The idea of this album cover portrays Lil Wayne’s originality and attempt to do something different. The message on his eyelids that say “fear” “god” gives the audience an idea of the type of music that the album will contain the writing shows that the audience will hear about fear within his music and Lil Wayne’s Christianity will mean there is a message about god within the album. He is wearing make up to give the cover a bit of colour and highlights different features. The shadows used show the dark theme of the albums content. The choice to use his face creates depicts the pain that has gone in to the album, the tattoos that are on his face tell the audience a bit about Lil Wayne’s personality. The tear drop tattoos are to imply loss or murder by the person, this is showing that the genre will be gangster rap and will have stories of crime and pain within it.

The use of really bright colours featured on this album cover give the audience of the bright and up beat genre of music. This album falls under pop or indie rock and features songs about school and teenage years explaining the toys on the shelf shown on the album cover. The toys are from the 80’s telling the audience that the songs featured are about the bands experiences growing up and there lessons in life. The title of the album “a guide to love, loss and depression” is the main focus of the cover and is written in large letter, but again the writing is childish and quite scruffy making it look like a teenager had written it almost like a mind map with the toys surrounding it. The word ‘pop’ is written on each shelf, this gives another clue to the audience about what the album will sound like and the genre of it, this targets an audience that likes pop rock and is a good way to attract.

The use of black and white colour on this depicts the bands dark and emotional genre. By putting the bands logo up above the buildings implies to the audience that they are on top and that they are a big band. The person stood in the foreground between the parallel shows the loneliness of the person and gives the audience a feel of what the album will contain; it shows that the songs are about rising above loneliness etc. as the writing below reads “start something”. The cover is inspirational and gives the audience an idea of what the music in the album is about. The album name is simple and fits to the genre of the band.
